The Best Advice I Can Give

With economic collapse on the horizon, what is the best course of action that one can take? Well, if haven’t figured out this is my blog, I’ll tell you. My opinion is, get off the grid, as much as possible.

Most people think by that statement, I mean go live in the mountains, live without power, and drink from a stream. The truth is, you can keep ALL of your modern technologies, and get off the grid. I’ll explain the best way to achieve this, and hopefully the most cost effective as well!

The most important step, is to dig a well. To have professionals come in and dig will cost around $4000 to up to $8000, depending on how much they have to dig, and what permits you will need. This is, however, the most important step. Without water, life will be extremely difficult! You could live fine without power, but you can die in only 2 to 3 days without water. There is however, a cheaper route, but requires a TON of digging. Yes, you could dig your own well! It will only cost around a grand, which is much cheaper! It could very, depending on the depth of the well. Now that you’re off the “water grid”, lets move to the “power grid”.

Solar power and wind power, are popular alternatives to conventional coal burning that happens at power plants. Solar panels could cost anywhere from $300 a piece, to $2000. The only downside to solar is, the sun isn’t out all the time. However, they do have battery type devices that save up energy that isn’t used. Wind power is much less popular, and a little more costly, but it really depends on who you go with, as well as where you live. Now for the final step.

Grow your own garden! If an economic collapse happens, do you want to be that guy starving in the streets, or be the guy eating his non-GMO, vegetables? I personally support labeling of GMO foods, simply because they’re horrible for you. There have been several studies done that show, GMO fed rats grow extremely large tumors from eating a GMO only diet. Russia has stopped taking GMO corn from the US, and other countries will follow suit too. To ignore this problem is accepting it, and I, for one, can NOT accept GMO’s . Growing and maintaining a garden is easy. Remember to water your plants and always grow more than you’ll need. It’s always wise to grow extra to barter with. I also suggest buying a few chickens to keep fresh eggs around. When the chicken gets older and can’t produce eggs, then it’s a meal!

These tips will help you out in case of an economic collapse, but you’ll have to do all this as soon as possible! What if you do all this work, and there is no economic collapse?? Then you end up saving tons of money! What’s wrong with that??
